Navratri Special - Kaju Makhana Kheer



Navratri, often dubbed as one of the most significant Hindu festivals, is celebrated over a course of nine days. On Navratri, many people keep fast. During these auspicious days, one ideal food that becomes favorite for everyone is sweet Indian desserts made with milk, ghee, coconut and nuts.


If you want to celebrate the festival with a sweet tooth, then here is one special sweet food recipe you can prepare while you are fasting at the same time.


Ingredients :

  • 1 1/3 cup cashews

  • 1 1/3 cup lotus seed

  • 3 tablespoon ghee

  • 1/2 teaspoon spice cardamom

  • 2 pistachios

  • 500 ml milk

  • 4 tablespoon khoya

  • 2 almonds

Method:

Step 1:

Sauté lotus seeds and cashew nuts in ghee.

To make this delicious dish, melt ghee in a nonstick pan. After the ghee is not enough, add lotus seeds and cashew nuts into the ghee and sauté them for a while. Keep it aside.

Step 2 :

Simmer the milk and then add the remaining ingredients.

Pour the milk into a deep non-stick pan and let it come to a boil. Take it off the heat. Add khoya and powdered sugar to the milk and let it boil on low heat. Add sautéed lotus seeds and cashew nuts to the milk and mix. Then, add cardamom powder, pistachios, and almonds to the simmering milk. Mix well and leave to simmer for a few minutes. When the milk has thickened considerably, remove it from the heat and place it in the refrigerator to cool.


Chill before serving and enjoy this delicious sweet dish with your family.
